Biography/origins
Glassjaw formed in 1993 when Justin Beck and Daryl Palumbo met at a summer camp. At the time, they both played in their own bands. Daryl played in a straight-edge band called XbustedX and Justin played in Sons of Abraham, a Jewish straight-edge metalcore band. While at camp, they had a list of potential band names, one of these was swiftkick which Beck favoured, but according to him 'Glassjaw just stuck'. Originally, the name Glassjaw was stylised as XglassjawX but then changed to The glassjaw, before finally staying as Glassjaw. They played their first show in 1994 in Oceanside, New york. Justin Beck originally played drums, but switched to bass guitar when Ariel Telford left the band in 1998, the following year he switched to lead guitar when Kris Baldwin left and Manuel Carrero joined.
